1. Gamer Weekend (Specifically Dragon Arena)
The rest of the events I didn't directly participate in b/c of lack of interest but they're still appreciated, like thermal underwear as a Christmas gift in near-zero climates.
Anyway, dodgeball with me/e was the most fun I've ever had in GW since my first week in pre-sear so the official Dragon arena was just heaven. Easy access to it, slight learning curve, and most importantly, tons of people to play against on an even footing where skill determined the outlook of the match (ok skill and latency). So simple, yet so entertaining. Amazing. I wish other pvp modes could be like this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On to my Idea! I think Anet should organize weekend events where players can form full teams to do Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry, and Alliance battles. Probably not all three in the same weekend so that each mode gets decent play and so JQ can get some love too.
(Didn't read through all the suggestions so if this was already mentioned before then I hereby second it)
Well there are somethings here that shouldnt be just weekend events.
1. increased chance for gold (item) drops in all areas
2. open access for UW/FoW Urgoz and the Deep not reliant on the PvP part of the game. Make it instead just a 1k fee
3. return the DD chests and the other 2 to the way they were before removal and pre nerfage.
now for the things that should be for weekends.
Basically any of the others you have listed, doesnt matter as long as youo cover the most for everyone. Such as having the dual event weekends works best. I mean by that is the events are both a PvP/PvE event weekend.
but thats my opinion.
4) gamer weekend (skillz title ftw)
5) double faction in AB (got my guild quite a bit of faction then)
Hench/Hero get no drops. IMO, this would increase the drop rate better then the double weekends.
Thanks Gaile, I finally got to voice this idea and know you'll be seeing it.
Rare (gold) drops
Unique (green) drops
Rare Chest Loot
Gamer Weekend (access to Shing Jea Boardwalk, Dragon Arena, Rollerbeetle Racing)
Shamrock Ale and Four-Leaf Clover
Not necessarily in this order.
Gaile I think one neat thing was the undocumented addition of the Icy Dragon Swords. Every couple of months you could randomly pick an area in one of the three continents and add a new and unique item in. That would be something a lot of people would be interesting in discovering.
Top 5:
FoW UW Access
Holiday Events
Gamer Weedends (boardwalk, rollerbeetle etc)
Elite Mission Access
Increased Golds from Chests
What I'd love to see:
Increased drops from FoW and UW (drop the price of ecto please) weekend
Elite Missions always have access to anyone (not really a weekend thing)
DoA double drop weekend (twice as many gemstones dropping?)
Double Bounty weekend (max out the sunspear and LB even faster! also, for people who can't recieve bounties anymore the bounties are open to them)
Snowball fights gets an honorable mention, but I highly suggest that snowball fights remain Winter-only events. Maybe snowball fight access for the full Wintersday month or something, but having snowball fights in the middle of summer just seems out of place. And, to be honest, part of the reason they're so much fun is because we don't get to do them all year round.
As for the special item drops, I quite enjoyed the four-leaf clovers. Again, I would suggest seasonal special item drops.
I'm obviously a PvE person, and I understand that all weekends can't be one side or the other. Alternating a super PvE weekend event and a super PvP weekend event would probably work out well. Something like increased keydrops and increased chest item rarity on one weekend, then double faction and fame from HA, then UW/FOW access, then Gamer Weekend. PvE bonus, PvP bonus, PvE access, PvP access.
One particular concept I've been convinced should have been in all along is Balthazar faction from killing everyday monsters. A weekend where killing monsters in PvE gives Balthazar faction would be quite fun, in my opinion. Adding Luxon or Kurzick faction for enemies in respective territories would also be much appreciated, though I'm sure that would be a lot of trouble for the programmers of the event.
And one idea that sprung into my head at this very moment: double merchant selling prices. For that matter, you could do that with any vendor. I'm sure those of us who are less adept at acquiring cash would appreciate that one. And yet another one; double material drop and salvage rates, for ecto- and gem-hoarders. Perhaps sugar and alcohol weekends would be in order as well, for the Big Deals among us.
My top five:
- Keys
- Dyes
- Rare Chest Loot
- Rare (gold) drops
- Unique (green) drops
New Ideas:
- Pets earn double experience points. - Just as it says, pets earn double experience points. one weekend It would help out a lot with Hero pets that need leveling up.
- Double Lightbringer/Sunspear Points - I know I don't want to spend an eternity working for them.
- Easy access to LA/Cantha/Kamadan - In otherwords, our characters wouldn't have to do quests to get to each area. They could simply teleport.
- Easter Event - I know that the Guild Wars staff probably won't do much for this. Some type of drops similar to Four-Leaf clovers and Shamrock Ale would be nice though. Perhaps this time we could have chocolate bunnies and easter eggs. ^_^
- Charr Bags in Post-Searing Ascalon - For one weekend only, all Charr bosses in Post-Searing Ascalon have the chance to drop a spiffy Charr Bag.
- Double Jade and Amber Chunks - For every 1000 Faction points you trade in, you receive 2 Jade or Amber Chunks instead of the usual 1.
I'll probably think of a few more ideas later...
Since St. Patricks was celebrated with Lucky Weekend, why not make the weekend starting Friday 13th April Unlucky Weekend?
I'm not sure what it could involve but I'm sure the staff could find ways too screw over players (in the nicest, most fun way possible) for the sake of laughs.
Really enjoy the double chance of drops
1. Unique (Green) Items
2. Rare (Gold) Items
3. Rare Chest Loot
and access to
4. Elite Missions
5. FoW and UW
Possible way to expand on the rare drop style of weekends would be to have it focused on a specific class e.g. "Warrior Weekend" that has increased chance of droping warrior based greens/golds and runes.
Thanks for these weekends!
1: Rare chest loot
2: Free/unsituational access to the Underworld/Fissure of Woe
3: Double chance of a gold drop
4: Double key drop
5: Triple green drop
My ideas:
-merchant sales weekend: merchant's stuff prices decrease with a certain % (Like salvage kits, id kits etc). Maybe prices decrease to sales value (So people can't make any profit off it)
-Animal weekend: Prophecies-only pets can be found in Elona/Cantha, and Elonian/canthan pets can also be found everywhere (Does not count for Black Widdow, Phoenix and Black moa, as they are unique pets). Also, pets gain double experience this weekend.
-Scholar weekend: In this weekend, you don't have to pay cash to buy skills, but a skill costs 2 skillpoints instead of 1 (Or else too much skills would be bought)
-Explorer weekend: treasures are implented in the lands of GW at random locations. You'll have to explore to find and get them.
-Crazy weekend: Monsters have the chance to drop rare loot from other lands (Like Trolls who can drop Dead Swords)
-Best Buddy weekend: Heroes and Henchies don't take away your share of the cash.
-Sorrow's Furnace weekend: Sorrow's Furnace bosses now have more chance to drop greens, and maybe a new quest as well.
-One_Of_a_kind weekend: If you kill a certain amount of random monsters (like charr), you'll get a present.
-Collector's weekend: Instead of the normal collectible item the collector searches, he also accepts a new item, that drops randomly during the weekend.
-Weekly lottery: name says enough. Buy tickets and be the lucky winner of a prize. Like tickets can be 500 gold each, and the main prize is 15K and some skillpoints. Or maybe some random keys, depending on where you bought the tickets (So, if you bought them in Droknar, your prize is Shiverpeak Keys.)
-Weekly donation: Donate some cash every week, and fortune might come your way (Like more/better drops, more chance of green drops, more chance of a golden chest etc).
-I will survive weekend: In this weekend, deaths don't count towards the title, and no death penalty is gained after a death. Morale Boost disappears when dead, though.
Well enough for now, I could think up more later
I like the elite skills weekends. Then the drops and elite loot weekends. Could care less for the pvp never do it. Rollerbeetle ball was fun but only when I thought I could get a beetle pet. Now its boring like the rest of pvp. And isn't it just like you to give the best mini pet in the pvp area and the rest of us get millions of worthless pigs, not that they are not cute but couldn't one of them been a beetle. Like the one I got from the tickets instead of a pig it could have been a beetle.
